Understanding Food Labeling and Health Claims

This month I will discuss how the food industry and marketing affect the products we purchase and consume.  When we go grocery shopping, we are inundated with so many choices for everything from bread to eggs.  I will educate you on how to read labels to make the best choice at the grocery store.  I will also talk about the regulations placed by the government to protect the food supply and the public from false advertising.  Finally, I will talk about what it means to be “organic”, “free range”, and "natural”.
